Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP)
We were selected for this program by the U.S. Department of Education for the 2002-03 school year. The amount granted is $32,959.00. This grant helps fund a portion of three teachers salaries.

Student Literary Anthology
Thanks to Jennifer Morgan we received a $300 KAMLE (Kansas Association for Middle Level Education) mini-grant in April 2002.

Community Learning Center after-school program
We, along with Effingham, McLouth, Valley Falls and Perry-Lecompton school districts, established this program with funding through the U.S. Department of Eduction's 21st Century Initiative. This is made possible by Dr. Jim Wheeler of the NEKESC. The major components of this program are: 1) a focus on strengthening acedemic skills; 2) planned group time with an emphasis on building healthy relationships; and 3) opporunities for widening students' horizons. We have also continued the program this school year with a self-funded JCN Extended School Learning Program at the EMS.

Carl Perkins Mini Grant
Written by Cindy Johnson and Sharon Porter in October 2002, this grant enables two teachers to attend the Kansas Business Education Association State Convention.
